MSC Vessel Seized in the Strait of Hormuz

On Saturday, April 13th, the container ship MSC Aries was seized by Iranian troops and diverted to Iran’s territorial waters.   The seizure appears to be part of the continuing escalation of tensions throughout the Middle East.  Cargo transit in the region was already disrupted due to recent attacks on merchant vessels in the Red Sea.  This cargo seizure has the potential to further disrupt cargo transit and impact port operations in the region.

If you have cargo flowing into or through the Middle East and have concerns on how to best navigate the region, please reach out to Noatum Logistics.  Noatum Logistics is uniquely positioned to support you within the region due to our Noatum Terminals and AD Ports Group teams.  We have already implemented alternative solutions whereby we utilize our own vessels and trucks to provide various land/sea routing options. For more information on our solutions please visit: Tackling the Red Sea Crisis | Noatum Logistics.

The MSC Aries is a Portugal Flagged 14,300 TEU capacity container ship built in 2020.  It had departed Khalifa, United Arab Emirates on April 12 and was expected to arrive in Nhava Sheva, India on April 15th.
