NON-ESSENTIAL TRAFFIC RESTRICTED AT U.S.-CANADA BORDER

On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, the United States and Canada announced that they will temporarily restrict all non-essential travel across the U.S.-Canada border due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is important to note that this agreement refers to non-essential travel only and will not affect trade.

President Donald Trump confirmed the news in a tweet on Wednesday morning stating, “We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected.”

Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, announced at a press conference that “Supply chains including trucking will not be affected by this new measure.”
