AD Ports Group’s Noatum Logistics Opens First Robotically Assisted Cold Chain Facility in Portugal

The new semi-automated reefer warehouse in Lisbon boosts Group’s integrated logistics capabilities across the West Mediterranean

Lisbon, Portugal/ Abu Dhabi, UAE – 19 May 2025: Noatum Logistics, a leading global logistics company, has opened its first robotically assisted refrigerated warehouse in the Portuguese capital, to serve AD Ports Group’s growing West Mediterranean logistics business.

The launch is part of Noatum Logistics’ rollout of cold chain hubs to meet evolving market demand in Portugal and the strategically important West Mediterranean region. The new Noatum Logistics facility will leverage strong customer demand and the Lisbon’s multimodal connectivity.

AD Ports Group rebranded its global logistics business as Noatum Logistics, following its 2024 integration of Noatum, a Barcelona-based European logistics, maritime and ports company that gave AD Ports Group’s global logistics reach. Through Noatum Logistics, AD Ports Group now operates an international network of over 90 logistics offices in 26 countries and has further representation in all global markets through an agent network in 158 countries.

The opening of the Lisbon reefer cold storage facility is further evidence of the growing global capabilities and appeal of the Group’s newly consolidated Noatum Logistics, Noatum Maritime, and Noatum Ports core brands.

The inauguration took place in the presence of His Excellency Ahmed Abdelrahman AlMahmoud, UAE Ambassador to Portugal, and Samir Chaturvedi, CEO of Noatum Logistics, AD Ports Group.

The 12,000 sqm purpose-built facility draws on robotic stacking technology and offers an expanded suite of integrated end-to-end solutions tailored to the needs of cold chain industries, including food and beverage, FMCG, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

His Excellency Ahmed Abdelrahman AlMahmoud, the UAE Ambassador to Portugal, said: “The launch of AD Ports Group’s Noatum Logistics’ warehousing hub in Lisbon reflects the strengthening ties between the UAE and Portugal, which are rooted in a common vision for a brighter future. It is befitting that this occasion serves as a reminder of how our relationship began — through maritime trade and the development of supply chains. We continue to build on that legacy by fostering prosperity through enabling trade, developing lasting partnerships, and creating opportunities for all.”

Samir Chaturvedi, Chief Executive Officer, Noatum Logistics, AD Ports Group said: “The opening of this reefer facility in Portugal, a first for Noatum Logistics worldwide, is part of our global value proposition to provide customers best-in-class logistics solutions, backed by operational excellence, innovation and sustainable practices. Through our new state-of-the-art Lisbon facility, our customers will gain valuable access to our expanding global network, and to AD Ports Group’s international trade and logistics ecosystem, allowing us to manage their shipments along every step of the supply chain.”

Strategically located within Lisbon’s North Logistics Platform, the new facility offers multimodal connectivity thanks to its proximity to the city’s international port, airport, and key road networks.

Tailor-built to handle fully integrated reefer logistics, its service portfolio includes temperature-controlled storage, robotic stock control, cross-docking, picking, labelling, customs, weighing and more. Reflecting Noatum Logistics’ commitment to environmental stewardship, the warehouse incorporates rooftop solar panels, recycled construction materials, and is being accredited for LEED GOLD certification.

Noatum Logistics’ global network of 47 warehouses continues to grow, and the opening of the Lisbon reefer facility underlines the Group’s commitment to Portugal as a regional and international hub for advanced technology, innovation and service excellence.
