Ningbo (Beilun) under lockdown

ningbo port lockdown

The district of Beilun, including Ningbo, is now under lockdown. The order was issued on 14th October due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. Authorities swung into action after a Covid-19 infection was confirmed on 13 October, prompting contingency execution by the officials at Ningbo-Zhoushan port, which is home to 20,000 container trucks.

The port of Ningbo-Zhoushan has implemented closed-loop management and green channels to enable the movement of container trucks, following yet another Covid-19 outbreak in the district of Beilun, where the port is in, resulting in a three-day lockdown that began on 14 October. This port was already partially closed during the summer for another Covid-19 outbreak.

The district has been put on a two-week lockdown and measures taken by local authorities shouldn’t affect productivity at the port. However, only around 30% of the 20,000 local drivers have been given special passes to enter and leave the port.

All roads were blocked, and free transportation is not allowed.

Since all terminals and warehouses in Ningbo are in the Beilun district no pickup of empty containers and delivery of full containers to the terminal can be arranged (LCL cargoes can’t be sent to the warehouses).

Movement restrictions in the Beilun district were intensified on 16 October as more positive cases were uncovered. People have been told to stay home and buy daily necessities online, with the items delivered to a collection point near their residences. Malls, supermarkets, shops and even farms have been ordered to close.

Update 25/10/2022

Ningbo is still under lockdown but the situation is improving, all warehouses operation will resume normally by the end of this week.

Part of the warehouses have been reopened and are accepting cargo but a permit is necessary for all drivers to enter Ningbo port. To get the permit they must apply for it at the Ningbo Port Office.
