Noatum Logistics UK’s international standards treble

The flagship logistics sites in London, Medway and Biggleswade have achieved an astonishing hat-trick in securing simultaneous ISO accreditations for quality, health, safety and sustainability.

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is an international group that establishes norms for the reliability, safety, and effectiveness of goods, services, and operations.

The ISO’s standards are the distilled wisdom of experts who understand the needs of the organisations they represent, including manufacturers, sellers, buyers, customers, trade associations, users and regulators.

These internationally-agreed standards are like a formula that describes the best way of performing a task or an operation. Specifically:

  • Quality management standards help companies work more efficiently and reduce product failures;
  • Environmental management standards help reduce environmental impacts, minimise waste and help organisations operate more sustainablly; and,
  • Health and safety standards help reduce accidents at the workplace.

ISO accreditation assures customers and other stakeholders that the business operates effectively and to the highest standards. It demonstrates commitment to achieving the highest positive outputs for the benefit of its employees, customers and wider society.

The London Medway and Biggleswade sites are now accredited for ISO45001, 9001 and 14001.

ISO 9001 – Quality
The globally-recognised standard for quality management, designed to improve performance to meet customer expectations and demonstrate commitment to quality. The quality management standard communicates a strong customer focus, active involvement of top management, a process-oriented approach to operations, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

ISO 14001 – Environment
By adhering to this internationally-recognised standard for environmental management systems (EMS), Noatum Logistics UK (NLUK) are taking proactive measures to minimise environmental footprint and achieve environmental objectives. The framework encompasses various aspects, from resource usage and waste management to monitoring environmental performance and involving stakeholders in environmental commitments.

ISO 45001 – Health and safety
Structured in a similar way to other ISO management systems, this standard is for organisations that place employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better and safer working conditions at the forefront of their business strategy.

Dean Squires, Health, Safety and Facilities Manager, noted: “I’m so proud of the Noatum team as without them this major achievement wouldn’t have been possible, so a big thank you to all our warehouse and office colleagues that remain committed to business excellence at all times.”

“Thanks also to the People Team for their continued support, the sites’ Management Team, General Managers and our Leadership Team, without whom none of this would be possible, and finally my team.”
