{"id":18529,"date":"2024-06-04T14:30:02","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T13:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.noatumlogistics.com\/us\/?p=18529"},"modified":"2024-06-04T14:30:02","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T13:30:02","slug":"canada-border-agency-employees-vote-to-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noatumlogistics.com\/us\/canada-border-agency-employees-vote-to-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada Border Agency Employees Vote to Strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 24<sup>th<\/sup>, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) notified the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat that it has received a positive strike vote from the membership of the Border Services Group which represents over 9,000 employees at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).<\/p>\n<p>The PSAC may initiate a legal strike as of June 6<sup>th<\/sup>, pending a 72-hour notice.<\/p>\n<p>A strike could cause delays at land crossings, airports, and ports, affecting daily trade from the U.S. into Canada. However, goods entering the U.S. from Canada are expected to face minimal impact.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian government has indicated that 90% of front-line border staff are considered essential and must work during a strike but operations may still slow down. Electronic customs entries will continue to receive automatic releases if they pass system validation, though manual processing may face delays.<\/p>\n<p>Ocean shipments will generally not be affected unless flagged for inspection.<\/p>\n<p>We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
