On December 26, 2023, the United States Trade Representatives (USTR) office issued a\u00a0Press Release<\/a>\u00a0notifying the trade that they were extending the previously reinstated and COVID-related China section 301 tariff exclusions through May 31, 2024.\u00a0The exclusions were previously scheduled to expire on December 31, 2023.<\/p>\n

The USTR will also be issuing a\u00a0Federal Register Notice<\/a>\u00a0announcing the opening of a docket for public comments on the existing exclusions on January 22, 2024.\u00a0According to the USTR,<\/p>\n

The extension will enable the orderly review of the exclusions consistent with
\nstatutory factors and objectives to identify in which cases additional time would
\nenable shifts in sourcing to the United States or third countries. The extension
\nwill also facilitate the alignment of further decisions on these exclusions with the
\nongoing four-year review.<\/p>\n
