{"id":17703,"date":"2022-09-12T08:46:07","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T13:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.miq.com\/?p=17386"},"modified":"2022-09-12T08:46:07","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T13:46:07","slug":"us-railroad-to-cut-services-as-union-talks-fail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noatumlogistics.com\/us\/us-railroad-to-cut-services-as-union-talks-fail\/","title":{"rendered":"US RAILROAD TO CUT SERVICES AS UNION TALKS FAIL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Starting Monday September 12, US Freight Railroads will begin to cut services due to the failure of two of the country\u2019s largest Unions to agree to contract.<\/span><!--more--> The Railroads began notifying customers of the cuts in anticipation of strikes on September 16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 17<sup>th<\/sup>. The Association of American Railroads confirmed in a\u00a0<a title=\"statement\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aar.org\/news\/railroads-make-plans-to-secure-hazmat-and-other-security-sensitive-shipments-due-to-labor-uncertainty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> Friday that six Class I freight railroads will begin to take steps to \u201cmanage and secure\u201d shipments of some hazardous or sensitive materials from Monday. Including: Import of hazardous and reefer shipments with IPI inland locations, if not already enroute on the rail, will not be accepted for transport by rail. Export hazardous and reefer shipments, if not already turned in at the origin rail ramps, will not be accepted at those locations. On top of the above restrictions, other freight customers may also experience delayed or suspended service over the next week, the railroad association added that talks with the remaining unions will continue throughout the week.
