ADDITIONAL 45 DAY EXTENSION TO HONG KONG MARKING REQUIREMENT<\/a><\/h3>\n

On Friday, August 21, 2020, United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a notice in Cargo System Messaging Service CSMS 43729326 to inform the trade that the 45-day transition period for compliance with the President\u2019s Executive Order (EO) 13936 on Hong Kong Normalization has been extended for an additional 45 days from September 25, 2020 to November 9, 2020. U.S. TO REIMPOSE 10% TARIFFS ON ALUMINUM PRODUCTS FROM CANADA<\/a><\/h3>\n

On August 6, 2020, a Presidential Proclamation on Adjusting Imports of Aluminum Into the United States was issued, which will result in a 10 percent Section 232 tariff on imports of non-alloyed unwrought aluminum from Canada. Read More<\/a>.<\/p>\n

HONG KONG NO LONGER ALLOWED AS COUNTRY OF ORIGIN<\/a><\/h3>\n

On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced in Federal Register Notice 85 No. 155 FR 48551\u00a0 that, \u201cin light of the President\u2019s Executive Order on Hong Kong Normalization issued on July 14, 2020, suspending the application of section 201(a) of the United States-Hong Kong Policy Act of 1992 to the marking statute, section 304 of the Tariff Act of 1930, with respect to imported goods produced in Hong Kong, such goods may no longer be marked to indicate \u2018Hong Kong\u2019 as their origin, but must be marked to indicate \u2018China.’\u201d Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n
