{"id":17508,"date":"2020-03-04T09:12:23","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T15:12:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.miq.com\/?p=16240"},"modified":"2020-03-04T09:12:23","modified_gmt":"2020-03-04T15:12:23","slug":"u-s-terminal-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noatumlogistics.com\/us\/u-s-terminal-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. TERMINAL UPDATES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Terminals in the U.S. are canceling work shifts due to the low cargo volumes caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19).\u00a0 There are 111 void sailings from the transpacific carriers between February \u2013 April, which includes 63 sailings during the normal factory closures over the Lunar New Year and 43 sailings due to the disruptions caused by the coronavirus.\u00a0 The American Association of Port Authorities says year-over-year cargo volumes in the first quarter could be down by at least 20%. <!--more-->The hardest hit are the terminals in Los Angeles and Long Beach, where most of the terminals have canceled shifts.\u00a0 This is a very fluid situation and will likely contribute to further disruptions with increased dwell times at the ports due to congestion,\u00a0displaced equipment, chassis splits and alternate container return locations.<\/p>\n<p>Please see the following websites to help us all navigate this successfully:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha\">\n<li>Please make sure you are visiting \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/noatumlogistics.us5.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=8951580316fc7f4fec4b48f3e&amp;id=fa9055c7d8&amp;e=8818f60831\">http:\/\/returnlocation.com\/<\/a>\u201d for\u00a0guidance on where to return empties for your carriers.\u00a0 This website includes many different steamship lines and is a great resource of information.<\/li>\n<li>Some terminals are closing on a day-to-day basis as they do not have import ships arriving.
