{"id":16677,"date":"2020-12-29T14:16:48","date_gmt":"2020-12-29T20:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.miq.com\/?p=16677"},"modified":"2020-12-29T14:16:48","modified_gmt":"2020-12-29T20:16:48","slug":"department-of-commerce-establishes-aluminum-import-license-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noatumlogistics.com\/us\/department-of-commerce-establishes-aluminum-import-license-program\/","title":{"rendered":"DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE ESTABLISHES ALUMINUM IMPORT LICENSE PROGRAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 23, 2020, the International Trade Administration, Department of Commerce (DOC) announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/noatumlogistics.us5.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=8951580316fc7f4fec4b48f3e&amp;id=b0407d724b&amp;e=a5c3c99eb1\">Federal Register 85 No 247 FR 83804<\/a> the adoption of the new Aluminum Import Monitoring and Analysis (AIM) system which will act as the aluminum import license application platform. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The AIM system is designed to allow for the effective and timely monitoring of import surges of specific aluminum products and to aid in the prevention of transshipment of aluminum products similar to the Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) system which has been operating over the past two decades. AIM will require license applicants to identify, among other requirements, the country or countries where the largest and the second largest volume of primary aluminum used in the manufacture of the imported aluminum products was smelted and the country where the aluminum product was most recently cast. For more information on AIM and its requirements, please visit <a href=\"https:\/\/noatumlogistics.us5.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=8951580316fc7f4fec4b48f3e&amp;id=6b6fc95859&amp;e=a5c3c99eb1\">https:\/\/www.trade.gov\/aluminum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Importers or brokers will be required to apply for and obtain an import license for each entry of <a href=\"https:\/\/noatumlogistics.us5.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=8951580316fc7f4fec4b48f3e&amp;id=ea0b734909&amp;e=a5c3c99eb1\">certain aluminum products<\/a>\u00a0into the United States.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released <a href=\"https:\/\/noatumlogistics.us5.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=8951580316fc7f4fec4b48f3e&amp;id=ad5d0ff6ff&amp;e=a5c3c99eb1\">Cargo System Messaging Service (CSMS) #45300205<\/a> advising importers and brokers that most aluminum products will require an aluminum import license for each entry beginning January 25, 2021.
