On February 24, 2019, the President of the United States announced that the increase in tariffs from 10% to 25% on $200 billion worth of Section 301 List 3<\/a><\/span> imports from China scheduled for March 2, 2019, is being postponed. The tariffs will remain at 10% for the foreseeable future as no new deadline for increasing the duties has been announced.<\/p>\n

The president noted substantial progress in the administration\u2019s talks with China relating to the issues of forced technology transfer and intellectual property rights protection, which prompted the Section 301 tariffs against China.<\/p>\n

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced in CSMS Message 19-000088<\/a><\/span> that the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) has been updated to reflect the continuance of the 10% tariff. CBP clarified to the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) that if the entry has been pre-filed, ACE should reflect a correction in the duty back to 10% at the time of Entry Summary (payment of duty). If the correction has not been made, the filer can file a post-summary correction (PSC) or contact their ACE client representative.<\/p>\n
