{"id":3561,"date":"2022-03-07T16:16:50","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T16:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.noatumlogistics.com\/ae\/?p=3561"},"modified":"2022-06-01T11:39:21","modified_gmt":"2022-06-01T11:39:21","slug":"supply-chains-and-the-ukraine-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noatumlogistics.com\/ae\/supply-chains-and-the-ukraine-war\/","title":{"rendered":"Supply chains and the Ukraine war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It is just twelve days since Russia invaded its neighbour and it is becoming clear that the sanctions and embargoes imposed by the UK and other governments are adding further strain to international supply chains, already struggling with the prolonged impact of the COVID pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are anticipating that the impact of sanctions, restrictions and prohibitions will spread much further than the conflicted region and will affect all transport modes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We have already observed a number of significant supply chain developments, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fuel prices are increasing dramatically and we are anticipating emergency fuel surcharges on all modes.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Force Majeure\u2019 is being called by insurers, carriers and other operators.<\/li>\n<li>Maersk, MSC, ONE, Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CGM have suspended bookings for Russian cargo.<\/li>\n<li>JAL and ANA have cancelled all flights to\/from Europe.<\/li>\n<li>Russian air cargo carriers have withdrawn from the market<\/li>\n<li>The closure of Russian air space will disrupt operations.<\/li>\n<li>Air freight capacity has been effectively reduced, with a direct impact on rates.<\/li>\n<li>Rail from\/to China is impacted \u2013 where it transits Russia\/ Ukraine \u2013 and is either not functioning, or cargo is not being accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Carriers and many other foreign operators have closed all Ukrainian offices and warehouses.<\/li>\n<li>UK government is asking ports to reject Russia-bound cargo and Russian flagged, registered or controlled vessels.<\/li>\n<li>We are seeing delays and detention of cargo by overseas customs authorities seeking Russian and prohibited cargo.<\/li>\n<li>Transhipment dwell times have increased 43% across Europe.<\/li>\n<li>The UK Government has announced sanctions and prohibitions on trade, which can be enforced by penalties.<\/li>\n<li>DfT advise that further sanctions targeting Russian shipping are being developed and we will update you further, as to the impact of these changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With so much uncertainty and \u2018Force Majeure\u2019 being called by insurers, carriers and other operators, we have suspended all shipments into or out of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and the wider region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supply chains have never faced so many challenges and with local conditions changing rapidly, we work closely with the Noatum office network to maintain the ability to react quickly to new challenges and protect our customers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We maintain long-term contracts\u00a0with airlines,\u00a0carriers and shipping\u00a0lines that secure space and rates, to provide the best alternatives and options, whatever the situation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our proactive team, leading-edge technology and candid communication, ensure that supply chain solutions meet your situation and needs.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is just twelve days since Russia invaded its neighbour and it is becoming clear that the sanctions and embargoes imposed by the UK and other governments are adding further&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":16,"featured_media":3562,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[85],"tags":[100],"class_list":["post-3561","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-logistics-sector-news","tag-ukraine"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Supply chains and the Ukraine war - United Arab Emirates<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Supply chains never faced so many challenges.
